Still undefeated, the (6-0) Bruins have been tested in their last few JCC of Bayonne Jr. Division Floor Hockey outings so no one was looking past the (0-6) Blackhawks. Taking a 1-0 lead on a Logan Servodio long distance dart, the Bruins’ sluggish offense seemed to catch a break. The one goal lead didn’t stand for long as the Blackhawks’ David Matos tied the bout off an assist by Toni Rivada. With only 1:03 remaining in regulation, the Blackhawks seemingly notched their first victory as Rivada once again assisted Matos on a scoring shot. Facing their first defeat of the season, the Bruins went into overdrive and finally tied the game at 2-2 on a Edward Denne bullseye with just 22 seconds left on the clock. Throwing haymakers at each other, the Bruins’ Christian Benson and the Hawks’ Sebastian Echeverry took shots from near and far but the 2-2 deadlock remained forcing a “sudden death” O.T. period. Digging in like two matadors, the Bruins’ Nathan Caballero and the Blackhawks’ Mariam Rasslan took their place in net and readied themselves for the charge. Brawling for every possession, the Blackhawks and Bruins each had their chances but as time ran out in O.T. Caballero and Rasslan made sure the 2-2 tie went into the books.
