SALLEY, GLORIA MARIE

was called home on June 4 with her children, grandchildren, and great grands by her bedside. Mrs. Gloria Salley was born on December 27, 1926 to Grace Linkhorn-Dunbar and Harold Moslim Miah. Gloria was the second oldest of four girls and was raised in Bayonne and in Jersey City. Before settling down with the love of her life, she attended Bloomfield College. She was a model for Clairol Hair. She also became a Shop Stewart for Western Electric and worked there until her retirement. Gloria married Rudolph Joseph Salley in September of 1947. They became the parents of two children; Glenda Salley-Perkins and Rudolph Glenn Salley. Gloria is the grandmother of ten, great grandmother of twelve, and great-great grandmother of nine. After retiring Gloria spent her time caring for her grands and great grands. Gloria was very active in local politics; she campaigned for Julien Robinson for Mayor, William Thorton for councilman, and Glenn Cunningham as freeholder, councilman and finally mayor of Jersey City. She also campaigned for both President Kennedy and President Obama. Gloria is survived by her children Rudolph Glenn Salley Jr. and Glenda Perkins-Salley; her sister Barbara Ervin; her grandchildren, Khalil “Donnie” Salley, Dwayne Salley, Krystal Perkins, Meiah Perkins, Toney Perkins, Ebone Salley, Nira Salley and Shawn Salley; her great grandchildren, Latoya Perkins-Long Terrace R. Perkins, Jarrett Blair, Donte Tucker, Zhataia Salley, Samiyah Perkins, Imani Spencer, Jade Blair, Brianna Barfield, Jaylen Blair, and Toney Perkins Jr; nine great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and family members. She is preceded by her husband Rudolph Salley; mother Grace Linkhorn; her sisters Pearl Melvin and Doris Moore; her granddaughter Tori Salley; and a host of family members.
