HUDSON COUNTY– A Flash Flood Watch is in effect today for the Hudson County area from noon through tonight, according to the Hudson County Office of Emergency Management nixle alert.
“A slow-moving cold front will usher in heavy rain and thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening statewide,” states the alert. “Rainfall amounts of 1 inch to 2 inches are forecast with 3 inches to 5 inches possible from locally heavy downpours. Heavy wind gusts and lightning may occur with these storms.”
A Small Craft Advisory is also in effect through tonight.
The alert warns that flooding and ponding may occur on roads and in low-lying areas, urban areas, and places subject to frequent flooding which can result in localized road closures.
The alert also warns that flooding and downpours can cause poor road visibility, and gusty winds can result in downed trees and power lines causing localized power outages.
