Memorial Day a day to remember, some of us forgot

Dear Editor:

A day when we say thanks to our serviceman and women for their services since 1776. With the US Fleet in our harbor, Hoboken held their annual Memorial Parade last month, nice marching group and patriotic music by Port Authority Pipe Band and featured some well drilled color guards of ROTC, Hoboken Police/ Fire Dept and Ambulance corps, the Hoboken Museum again marched with their huge American flag carried by museum members all with their colors.

So pray till, when you see 4 local high school bands, nice musical arrangements, sharp uniforms, each school with 10 or 12 drag flags used as twirlers, none of the 4 high schools flew on American Flag! A very nasty trend among high schools.

Hoboken, Hawthorne, West New York and Union City do not fly the American Flag (at a veteran’s event??).Parade committees use to have a parade contract all musical units must be proceeded by an American Flag had any veteran group checked this out?

Thanks to those that did and hell to those that did not!

Sincerely

Jack O’Brien
