Cifuentes siblings key Devils win

Pulled back to the pack after a (4-0) start, the Penguins now find themselves one defeat away from slipping into a second place regular season finish. At (1-6), the Devils would love to play the spoiler role as they prep for their JCC of Bayonne Sr. Division Floor Hockey “Championship Tournament” gold medal run. Trading goals in the early going the Devils’ Alejandro Cifuentes and Kailey Delauter hit their mark while Drew Radil handled the scoring for the Penguins. Tied at 2-2, the Pens put on a two goal burst as David Matos joined forces with Radil to lift the Penguins out to a 4-2 advantage. After tweaking their ranks, the Devils went on the march as Kyle O’Hara (1 goal, 2 assists), Aaliyana Cifuentes (2 goals, 1 assist), and Alejandro Cifuentes (1 goal, 1 assist) propelled their squad out to a 6-4 lead. Doing their best to hold on to a slim two goal advantage, the Devils’ Anthony Baez and Ethan Bustamante set up camp in the defensive zone. All seemed to be working as planned until a Devils penalty gave the Penguins new life. Trying to cash in quickly, the Penguins’ Drew Radil only took 15 seconds to make it a 6-5 game with his fourth goal of the game. Leaving Kasper Hooks and Zachary Ciesmelewski to guard the fort, the Penguins offense went into an all out charge with Radil and Matos ripping shots on net but two diving saves by the Devils’ Alejandro Cifuentes secured the Devils’ 6-5 victory.
