Sanctuary cities bill moving ahead in Trenton

To the Editor:

Lawmakers in Trenton propose legislation to oppose President Trump’s immigration policies which would use state funds to reimburse local governments for federal funds they could lose by choosing to be a sanctuary city.
Our state legislators want to use taxpayer dollars to reimburse those who refuse to work with the Federal Government in enforcing Federal Laws on Immigration. Where will these funds come from? It’s not that New Jersey is swimming in excess dollars. What about the public pension problems? How will it affect our bond rating? Should the citizens of the state anticipate tax increases?
Now that our neighbors Jersey City and Newark are sanctuary cities, will Bayonne be next?
