Hoboken’s Guitar Bar attempts to break world record Thursday July 20

HOBOKEN — On Thursday, July 20, at 7 p.m. the Guitar Bar and hundreds of Hudson County residents will attempt to break the record for the world’s largest band.
Guitar Bar, Hoboken’s longstanding music store, is celebrating its 20th anniversary and is inviting residents to join its staff for a fantastic night of playing music together in Sinatra Park.
This year marks its fifth attempt to break the record for “The World’s Largest Band.” The Guinness Book of World Records lists 953 participants in Beijing as the current record.
“We’re calling on anyone and everyone with an acoustic guitar, mandolin, or ukulele (or any other acoustic instrument) to play along,” the media release states.
According to tradition, the night will kick off with “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door,” followed by other easy songs beginner guitarists can follow. This year will include tunes by Chuck Berry, The Rolling Stones, and more.
The Guitar Bar will post chord charts and YouTube instructional videos that participants can play along with on its Facebook page.
All songs and information are at guitarbar.com/worldrecord.
Registration starts at 6 p.m.
