JERSEY CITY – The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is bringing its 5,500-pound, nearly 11-foot-tall Mars rover concept vehicle to the Liberty Science Center on July 29-30.
The “Summer of Mars Experience Tour” will be open to the public on July 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The tour’s centerpiece Mars Rover was commissioned by Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex as a traveling exhibit to inspire and educate the public about space exploration and interplanetary travel.
The vehicle was built by Cape Canaveral-based Parker Brothers Concepts, with input from NASA-engineer science and based on NASA-engineer specifications.
Currently on its East Coast “Summer of Mars Experience Tour,” the rover was previously in Atlanta and in Washington, D.C. Its final stop will be the Intrepid Air Sea & Space Museum in New York City Aug. 3-6.
