GUARINI, ANTOINETTE

A funeral mass took place Aug. 4 at St. Aedan’s Church, Jersey City, for Antoinette “Nettie” Guarini, 86, a lifelong resident of Jersey City. She passed away July 29, surrounded by her family. Nettie retired from the Jersey City Department of Health and Human Services. A Democratic Committeewoman for nine consecutive terms, Nettie was a Jersey City Ward B candidate on the late Jersey City Glenn D. Cunningham team. A concerned community activist, she led surplus food distribution in the West Side Ward. Nettie organized charity events for senior citizens, youth programs and also was a Girl Scout and Brownie leader. Nettie had a strong faith in God and instilled these beliefs in her seven children. Her greatest love was spending time with friends and family especially her grandchildren. Nettie was the wife of the late John J. Guarini, Jr.; mother of John J. Guarini, III & wife Zelinda, Catherine Kennedy and husband Edward, Mary Rose Guarini Bodner, Antoinette Guarini-Gonzalez, Linda Sramowicz and husband Thomas, Jacqueline Guarini and the late Anthony J. Guarini; sister of Vincent and the late Frank Salerno, Grace Troncone, Catherine DeFazio, Rosalie Paez, and was also survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
