KAPLAN, JUDITH

Funeral services were held July 30 for Judith Kaplan, 88. She died July 27 at Greenwood House in Ewing. Born in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Josephine and George Littwin and younger sister of the late Edythe “DeeDee” Littwin, she moved to Jersey City in 1948 upon her marriage to Benjamin Kaplan, to whom she was married for 57 years, until his death in 2005. Judy and Ben raised their three daughters on Jewett Avenue and were active members of Temple Beth-El, where Judy was an officer of the sisterhood and was president of the Jersey City Chapter of Hadassah. She was an attendance clerk at Dickinson High School, as well as a proficient translator of books into Braille. She was a devoted mother to her three daughters: Marsha Wasserman, married to Evan; Mindy Wagman, married to Miles; and Nancy Healey, married to John. Her eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren will remember her big smile, warm heart, and great cooking.
