Secaucus police deliver baby at resident’s home

SECAUCUS – Local police officers helped deliver a baby girl at a resident’s home Sept. 3., according to a press release from the Secaucus Police Department.
Officers received a 911 call at 12:16 p.m. that day, of a woman in labor at her home on the 700 block of County Avenue. Sergeant Michael Simone and Police Officers Justin Restrepo and Sean Egan delivered the baby girl in the home.
Both mother and baby were transported to Hackensack University Hospital, where they were “doing well,” the release said.
“Chief [Kevin] Flaherty is thankful the mother and her baby are fine,” the release added. “He also comments all the officers involved and Dispatcher Thomas Meicke, who handled the initial 911 call.”
Last month, Secaucus police revived a two-week old baby boy who had stopped breathing.
