Dear Editor:
In this municipal race, candidates have been debating to what extent it is appropriate to “nationalize” the campaign. On the issues, the candidates arguing that local issues are separate from the global political firestorm are more or less correct. However, elections are more than a checklist of policy positions. When we choose a mayor, or councilmen/women, we are also choosing who represents this town.
Hudson County voted 74% for Hillary Clinton. I, and many of my fellow Hoboken residents, think Donald Trump is a daily disgrace to our country’s values and a daily danger to our security. So I won’t support a ticket (Michael DeFusco’s) that includes someone who not only voted for but donated money to the Trump campaign. Such a person is not representative of Hoboken values, and can’t effectively serve Hoboken’s interests.
