Supporting Anthony Romano

Dear Editor:
Election Day – November 7, 2017. The voters of Hoboken will be making a choice among six candidates for Mayor. As a resident of nearly 40 years, I can safely say that this election will be one of the most crucial in Hoboken’s recent history. There’s a deep divide in Hoboken currently, and we need leadership that will build a bridge connecting the political factions in our city. We need someone who will be inclusive of all residents’ needs and concerns: overdevelopment, the Washington Street disaster, potholes, the abominable condition of our infrastructure, flooding, and our severe parking problem. And this is just the short list. These issues all affect our City’s ability to welcome businesses, visitors, and residents. The challenges we face are too great to be ignored and we can’t allow ourselves to be torn apart by factionalism or by past labels of ‘old vs. new’.
There’s one candidate who can and will bridge the divide between the old and new, and work towards the common goal of a better Hoboken for all: Anthony Romano. I’ve known Anthony for many years: a beat cop, a captain, a teacher, a business owner, and a public servant. He has the knowledge, know-how, compassion, and leadership abilities to make Hoboken’s future even more formidable. Hoboken is a great City – that’s why we live here. With Romano as Mayor, it will have an even stronger future. It is with this in mind that I unequivocally support Anthony L. Romano for Mayor of Hoboken.
If you are a registered voter, he deserves your vote. If you are not registered, make sure you vote on Election Day, for Anthony L. Romano Mayor and the Romano Slate of Mello, Matthews and Hammond for city council. Let’s make sure to put the word Mayor in front of Anthony L. Romano’s name.
