MELTZER, PETER

98, who owned a home improvement business in NJ, died on November 7 in Coconut Creek, FL. A lifelong resident of Bayonne, Mr. Meltzer was a World War 11 veteran and a graduate of Pace University where he majored in business management. On November 25, 1945, he married Phyllis Gordon, who survives him. In 1948, he joined his childhood friends, Milton and Ed Schultz, as a partner in Schultz Supply, later known as Schultz Home Centers, in Bayonne and Union City, NJ. He continued as an owner until the early 90’s when he retired to spend winters in Florida. Peter was an active and charitable participant in the Bayonne community well into his 90’s and was a member of the JCC, Temple Emanuel and the UJA. A gifted photographer, Peter studied at the International Center of Photography in NYC. He was a husband to Phyllis and father to his children, Steven, and Linda Drogin and their spouses, Phyllis and Jeffrey Drogin. A grandfather to Abbey Weiss and her husband, David, and Lee Meltzer, he was also a proud great-grandfather to Isla Harper Weiss.
