Two Hoboken police injured in 40-person brawl

HOBOKEN — Police said over the weekend that as many as 40 people were involved in a fight outside of a bar on lower Washington Street shortly before 3 a.m.
Two of the officers working nights, Sgt. Michael Costello and Officer Michael Losurdo, tried to break up the fight and were injured.
Police Chief Ken Ferrante said that while their injuries weren’t serious, Costello is out of work for a while.
Four people were arrested for aggravated assault. Ferrante Tweeted that bars that don’t “control” crowds won’t be tolerated.
NJ Transit, the North Bergen police, and the Port Authority responded to help.
