Residents around the county share their resolutions

A new year sometimes provides new resolve and inspiration for change. While not all problems can be solved by positive thinking (sometimes it takes better health care, help from friends, or even a Gofundme.com fundraiser), it never hurts to try to focus on the more manageable areas of one’s life.
Some local residents said they wanted to change bad habits in 2018, while others wanted to work on their relationships. “To be happy,” vowed Nellie Gomez of Union City. “I have so many commotions within my family.”
Judging from people’s comments on social media this season, she was not alone in wanting to improve familial relations. Maybe we all need a bit less judgment, more kindness, and an effort to reach out, even if it’s a risk.
Here are some of the resolutions from your neighbors.
