Dear Editor:
To the Council of the City of Hoboken: As a baseline, I believe the Council, administration and constituents need to have a discussion on the meaning of collaboration and the role of a public representative in expressing the will of the people.
The administration under Zimmer – and now the baton handed to Bhalla – has clearly and deliberately rejected the will of the people. This fact is easily illustrated in the turnout and actions of the hundreds of people showing up to council – en-mass – to have their voices heard.
In a democracy, the buck stops with the people. As the eyes of Council and residents have become more open, the people are ready – and must be assisted by their representatives – to take all necessary steps to reinforce a strong democratic local government.
Yours in democracy,
Melissa Blanco
