To the Editor:
On Tuesday, February 20, 2018, as part of its celebration of Black History Month and this year’s theme of “African-Americans in Times of War,” Bayonne High School students had the pleasure of hearing Mr. Louis Rowan and Mr. Tony A. Goodson share their stories of serving in the military in the 1950s and 1960s during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. On behalf of our students and teachers, I would like to thank Mr. Goodson and Mr. Rowan for giving up their time to share their histories and their messages of service and honor and for reminding us of how far we have come as a country. I would also like to thank Commander Glenn Flora and Ms. Jackie George of the Joyce-Herbert Veterans Military Museum for making this event possible and for their tireless efforts to educate our children.
