Hoboken council schedules special meeting on waterfront property

HOBOKEN–According to the Hoboken City Council agenda, a special meeting will be held on Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m. on the former Union Dry Dock property.
The meeting will discuss an ordinance the council unanimously passed on first reading last week to acquire the former Union Dry Dock property now owned by NY Waterway for $11.6 million.
The city wants to acquire the land for open public space while NY Waterway has plans to use it as their ferry homeport, maintenance, and refueling station.
NY Waterway has said the Hoboken location is ideal for their use as it is central to their existing operations.
The meeting will take place in council chambers in City Hall at 94 Washington St.
