To the Editor:
On February 17, the Department of Recreation Annual Awards Dinner was held at the Bayonne Museum. It was an incredible evening. Pete Amadeo marked that it was 65 years ago that the first girl’s championship was won by the 50/50 Club Debs. The Debs was a group of girls who petitioned the department to start a league for girls during the early 1950’s.
This year, Pete reached out to us and invited us to the annual dinner. We were set for a nice evening, but totally unprepared for the wonderful reception we received. The decorations were beautiful and the red carpet was marvelous. There was a banner with our team’s logo on it over the event. Pete arranged pictures of us mingled in with the current champs. I cannot believe the amount of work Pete had to do to accomplish all of this. Sixty-five years, hard to believe it was that long ago. Pete Amadeo has given us a night we will never forget. We love our t-shirts!
