Second threat made at a North Bergen school

NORTH BERGEN – Local officials have downplayed a threat a student wrote on a bathroom wall at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School in North Bergen yesterday, March 13. The incident follows another bathroom wall threat left at North Bergen High School March 2.
“It was just some kid being stupid,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. George Solter, of the JFK threat. “It was just a threat that she was going to do something to kids.”
He added, “It was a fifth grader. We didn’t understand what the person was writing.”
Officials looked at school cameras and quickly located the child, Solter said. “Right now, what we’re doing is working positively to tell the child what she did, and how dangerous she could’ve been.”
Solter also said the school did not need to close down, “because we saw the child and we took care of it. If there was a situation, we would close down.”
But just to be safe, officials placed extra police at JFK School Wednesday morning, Solter said.
