Man assaulted in Guttenberg dies from injuries

GUTTENBERG–A man assaulted in Guttenberg died of his injuries Thursday morning, according to a press release from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
On March 28, around 10:15 p.m., Guttenberg Police received a report of someone on the ground at 70th Street, between Broadway and Hudson Avenue. They found a man in distress on the ground upon arriving.
Officials identified the man as Sebastian Aguilar, 36, from Guttenberg. He was treated at the scene, before being transported to Palisades Medical Center for his life-threatening injuries.
However, Aguilar passed away around 7:40 a.m. March 29, the release said. His cause and manner of death are pending investigation from the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
A preliminary investigation has found that multiple assailants allegedly attacked Aguilar while walking through Guttenberg. Police have identified two of the alleged attackers–one 15 year old and a 14 year old.
The juveniles have each been charged by the Guttenberg Police Department with one count of aggravated assault and one count of endangering an injured victim. Additional charges are expected to be filed. The investigation is ongoing and additional assailants are being sought.
