New Jersey Teamsters Football Club (NJ Teamsters FC) and the City of Bayonne will host a joint press conference and official “Kick-Off” party for the community on April 7 from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Bayonne Community Museum, 229 Broadway. NJ Teamsters FC is a new minor league soccer club and members of United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) and based in Bayonne.
The spring pro season starts in April and NJ Teamsters FC will play sanctioned home matches, tournaments and friendlies at Don Ahern Veterans Stadium. At the “Kick-Off” party, NJ Teamsters FC will unveil the new home/away uniform kits to the public, the NJ Teamsters FC’s players will meet and greet soccer enthusiasts and sponsors Bayonne’s Mezcal Kitchen, Ignite Physical Therapy and BCB Community Bank, will curate their tables with their brands and products. Food and beverages will be provided by Mezcal Kitchen restaurant, a DJ will spin and other special treats for the kids.
NJ Teamsters FC President Alex Geraldino – a resident of Bayonne said, “It’s my dream to have the team play in Bayonne. This town is becoming more popular as a sports, fitness and wellness city and it’s the perfect environment for NJ Teamsters FC. One of our goals is to host international tournaments here and put Bayonne on soccer’s global stage and we’re thankful that Mayor Davis has given us the opportunity to do so. We want to ensure that our matches aren’t just matches, they’re events!”
Mayor Jimmy Davis said, “Bayonne is proud to be the home of the New Jersey Teamsters Football Club. We are very excited to have a semi-pro soccer team located in our hometown and playing in our municipal stadium.” Mayor Davis continued, “Soccer is a growing sport in the United States, and is especially popular among our younger Bayonne residents. We look forward to many exciting games in Bayonne in the years ahead.”
