JERSEY CITY – The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a baby found along the tracks near Journal Square Transportation hub on April 11.
The prosecutor’s homicide unit along with the Port Authority Police Department responded to the site near the Tonnelle Avenue Bridge about 1 p.m. on the report of the death of an infant.
The body was along the tracks just off Broadway where PATH trains, Amtrak and freight trains have a number of lines. One media report suggested the baby’s body was in a bag or a suitcase.
Details are scarce, but the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is expected to release more information within the next 24 hours.
