A mass of Christian burial was celebrated May 2 at St. Anne’s Church, Jersey City, for Katherine R. Carroll. She died peacefully in the care of her family on April 29. Born in Jersey City and a lifelong resident, Katherine spent most of her life as a bookkeeper, with her last employment being Capitol Box in North Bergen. She was an avid parishioner of St. Anne’s Church and enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren. Katherine was adored and survived by her children, Kelly Carroll-Lee, Retired JCPD Detective John Carroll and JCPD Captain James Carroll, Esq. and his wife, Jersey City Teacher Sharon Carroll; grandchildren, Katelyn Carroll, Johna Carroll, Kyle Lee, John Cassidy, Chelsea Carroll and Madison Carroll; sister, Mary Rotondi and sister-in-law, Dorothy Downes. Katherine is also survived by many nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. She will join her mother, Catherine “Caddy” Downes and her brothers, James, Michael, Thomas, Francis, John and Patrick in Heaven.
