Bayonne Mayor Davis wins re-election

BAYONNE — Mayor James Davis and the majority of his City Council slate won election in that town on Tuesday night. Davis beat out former Assemblyman Jason O’Donnell and local doctor Mitchell Brown to keep his spot.

Davis’ council slate was projected to win as well, but the results were close in the 2nd Ward around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday (follow the numbers at this link.)
Davis amassed 6,850 votes to O’Donnell’s 4,556. Brown got 525, and 17 voters wrote in a personal choice.

O’Donnell told the press he would call Davis to concede around 9 p.m. Davis’ supporters crowded around Villa Maria on Broadway, celebrating the victory.

Davis will continue to steer Bayonne through redevelopment, including several big residential projects, and other changes.
