Blessing of the bikes

To the Editor:

There are so many people to thank for the success of our latest Bayonne Elks 434 Motorcycle Committee Blessing of the Bikes. Thank you to the City of Bayonne, Mayor Jim Davis and his staff, Pete Amadeo, Sue Ferraro, DPW, and the members of the Bayonne Police and Fire Departments who ensured the safety of our guests. Thank you to our Bayonne Elks member Lisa Urcuioli and the members of Captain Smootchie and Keith Borelli who donated their time and talent. Thanks to all of our members who donated water, soda, and food. Thank you to all who took their time Friday to clean and prep the yard and lodge and to those who performed duties throughout the event; there are far too many to mention. Many thanks to Father John Fencik a/k/a Padre for performing a beautiful ceremony and blessing the many bikes for a safe riding season and of course, vendors and guests. This was an especially difficult day as we were all under the emotional strain of the passing of our member and Past Exalted Ruler Michele Levinson Matos the night before. But, as any family would, we pulled and worked together to honor her and her family to ensure the event was a success.
