CHOWANEC, GEORGE

85, passed away on May 10, 2018 at Genesis Health Care in Whiting. He was born in Jersey City and resided in Bayonne for many years before retiring to his home in Forked River. George was the labor relations chairman for the Colgate Palmolive Company Union. He retired from the Jersey City factory after 35 years on the job and continued on as Founder and President of the Colgate Palmolive Retiree’s association for the next 27 years. George was predeceased by his wife Lillian (nee: Martin) Chowanec and his siblings; John Chowanec (Sophie), Walter Chowanec (Connie), Peter Chowanec (Rose), Pauline Kaplinski (John), Olga Kolakoski (Ed), Annie Bobko (Joe), Eva Warjanka (Mike) and Lillian Bogusz (Joe). Father of Donna Chowanec, Georgette Kaufman and her husband Jay and George Chowanec and his wife Lori. Grandfather of Christina, Jake and Nicole Kaufman. Great-grandfather of Milania. Brother of Alexander Chowanec and his wife Olga. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
