NORTH BERGEN – Police have arrested a New York man who they allege was trying to lure young girls into prostitution, according to a department press release.
North Bergen Board of Education employees recently alerted officers of suspicious flyers posted along JFK Boulevard, near the high school. These flyers reportedly sought young females to work for a production company paying up to $600/hr in cash, the release said.
Police began an investigation, suspecting the flyers were actually an effort to lure young women for sex work. A detective gained contact with a suspect behind the flyers, posing as a 15-year-old girl. The police allege the suspect communicated with the detective via text and invited her to meet at a local motel to make a pornographic film.
After a three day investigation, conducted with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, the New Jersey State Police Trafficking North Unit and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, Newark Division, officers arrested Mark Piotti, 37, of the Bronx on May 20. He was allegedly in possession of a video camera at the time.
Piotti is charged with attempted human trafficking, promoting prostitution, and luring and enticing a child. Piotti was transported to Hudson County Jail.
