Alleged public masturbator apprehended

On June 8 at 5:17 p.m., Lee Albert, 68, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and sexual assault.
Officers Nick Valerius and Roary Miller responded to Pier A Park after a caller reported a man allegedly exposing himself. Other witnesses also told the officers what they saw.
“The defendant was seen [allegedly] with his pants down to his knees maustrubating in the area of the fountain in view of the public. This is an area where children are also known to play. The defendant immediately stopped when noticing the caller on the phone with police and began to walk away,” said a press release from the police department.
The caller pointed out the suspect. The officers placed him under arrest and transported him to headquarters for processes. He is homeless, according to the police press release.
He was remanded to the Hudson County Rehabilitation Center.

Talk about digging a hole for yourself

Police arrested Edison residents Arnav Shah, 23, and Sheel Shah, 21, on May 27.
Arnav was charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct while Sheel was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Newark and River streets on a call of a fight. Officers Jayla Vega and Connor Milne arrived to see a large group fighting. As they attempted to calm the crowd and separate those involved, Sheel Shah allegedly took a shovel and tried to strike another man. Officer Milne stopped Sheel Shah from allegedly continuing to swing the shovel. He was arrested and handcuffed. Officer Vega attempted to restrain Arnav Shah who allegedly hit her on the side of her the face. After a brief struggle, she was able to restrain him and place him under arrest.
Both were then transported to headquarters for processing and received summonses to appear in court. Officer Vega was not seriously injured and was able to continue her tour of duty. The victim could not be found in the large crowd, and may have left the scene.

Car accident leads to arrest

Kyle Richardson, 21, of Olney Md., and Michael Hill, 21, of Fredrick Md., were charged with receiving stolen property on May 28. Richardson was also charged with possession of prescription drugs.
While on patrol, Sgt Keith Rotondi saw a car accident in the 100 block of Bloomfield Street between a driver and a parked car. Rotondi saw that one of the vehicles, a Chevy Avalanche, did not have any license plates visible.
The driver of the Avalanche was allegedly not able to provide proof of registration or a valid driver’s license. After speaking with Richardson and Hill, Rotondi determined that neither one allegedly had permission from the owner to use the vehicle. The owner is from the Maine as was the vehicle’s last registration.
The men were both arrested and charged and were both released with a summons to appear in court.

One hand in the cookie jar

Hoboken resident Eric Rosa Hernandez, 32, was arrested on May 24 and charged with attempted theft and burglary of an auto.
Officers were dispatched to Fifth and Bloomfield streets on the report and description of someone breaking into a vehicle.
Officer Roberto Cuevas saw Hernandez, who matched the description, a block away on Fourth and Bloomfield streets. The victim had followed Hernandez from the car and confirmed his identity to police. Hernandez allegedly fled the scene until Cuevas stopped and arrested him.
Hernandez was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released with a summons to appear in court.

Smelled the marijuana

Hoboken resident Andre Wheeler, 34, was arrested on May 23 and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being under the influence of drugs.
Officers were called to 320 Marshall Dr. on the report of fight occurring inside the lobby.
The officers arrived and determined the call was unfounded.
As officer Tyrone Huggins did a check of the building, he saw Wheeler outside smoking a brown cigar. Huggins smelled marijuana allegedly coming from the cigar and placed Wheeler under arrest.
A search of his person found him to allegedly have a plastic container with another brown cigar with suspected marijuana. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed. A warrant complaint was generated and he was remanded to the Hudson County Rehabilitation Center.

Charges escalate after alleged public urination

Hoboken Resident Niccole Prestimonico, 24, was arrested on May 20 and charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Detectives Luis Rodriguez and William Collins were on patrol when they saw Prestimonico allegedly urinating in public near 60 Court St. around 3:05 a.m. The detectives approached her and asked for identification so that a summons could be issued for urinating in public. As Rodriguez was issuing the summons, Prestimonico allegedly became irate and began to scream at the detectives. She continued her behavior and at one point allegedly lunged towards the officers.
She was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and as they attempted to place her in handcuffs she allegedly began to resist by pulling away her arms so that the detectives could not handcuff her. After a few minutes, they were able to safely handcuff her and transport her to headquarters, where she was processed and later released with a summons to appear in court.

Alleged package theft apprehended

Jersey City resident Jose Reyes, 58, was arrested and charged on May 17 with criminal mischief, possession of burglary tools, theft, and attempted burglary.
While on early morning patrol, Sgt. Donald Russo saw Reyes exit a Jefferson Street address. Aware that there have been several early morning package thefts, he decided to speak to Reyes.
Reyes confirmed to Rosso and Officers Jayla Vega and Fabien Quinones that he did not live in the building he exited and he was allegedly carrying bolt cutters, a tool often used for burglaries. As they questioned him further he allegedly could not answer several questions and was evasive.
A check of the address found the door to have what appeared to be fresh markings and damage from a tool. He was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing. At headquarters, Detective Luis Rodriguez was able to identify Reyes from a package theft he was investigating. Reyes was additionally charged with theft for allegedly taking a package from a Monroe Street address on May 16. A warrant complaint was generated and he was released with a summons to appear in court.
