BAYONNE – A woman died in a four-alarm fire that consumed three buildings around 36th Street and Broadway at around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20. The cause of the fire, which took the Bayonne Fire Department three hours to extinguish, remains under investigation. Officials believe it started on the third floor of a building on the corner of 36th Street and Broadway. Three firefighters were treated for minor injuries at Bayonne Medial Center, along with the woman who later died at the hospital.
Some streets in the area were closed and may remain closed until cleanup efforts are complete.
