‘Million Dollar Reunion’ rockabilly revival opens Summer Concerts on The Hudson

WEEHAWKEN – “Million Dollar Reunion” features the music of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash, and will open the 15th season of Summer Concerts on the Hudson at Lincoln Harbor Park, Weehawken, on Monday, July 9 at 7 p.m.
On Dec. 4, 1956, the four legendary musicians met at the famous Sun Records Studios in Memphis, Tenn. They were all part of an impromptu jam session that resulted in an iconic recording. A Memphis paper reported on this amazing musical moment and dubbed the group the “Million Dollar Quartet.”
Over a half century later, this event was dramatized and the Broadway musical
“Million Dollar Quartet” was born. It played almost 500 performances and was followed by many productions, including a National Tour and a London West End production.
The July 9 concert will feature rock n’ roll gems performed by actors and musicians who have appeared in various productions of the show.

Lincoln Harbor Park is located just north of the Chart House restaurant directly on the west bank of the Hudson River in Weehawken. Free parking is available and public transportation, including NJ Transit bus 158 from the Port Authority and Hudson Bergen Light Rail stop at Lincoln Harbor, will bring concertgoers to Lincoln Harbor. The Hudson Riverfront Performing Arts Center, Inc. (HRPAC), a New Jersey Not-For-Profit, presents this summer long series of open air concerts free of charge to the general public.
Concerts are family friendly. Limited seating is available; however, audience members are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket, if possible, and encouraged to picnic on the lawn.
