KOSCHIG, AUGUST

A military funeral service and blessing was held July 3 for August “Gus” Koschig, 66, a lifelong Hoboken resident. An 11 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps and Hoboken firefighter for many more than twenty-five years, he passed away peacefully at Hoboken University Medical Center on June 30. Gus is survived by his wife, Cecilia Wladich Koschig; his twin brother Richard, a retired Hoboken Police Officer and his sister-in-law Carol; a stepson James and a stepdaughter, Biddie. A great joy in his life was his only grandchild, Athena. Gus was a member of the American Legion Post 107 in Hoboken, a member of the Hoboken Elks, and a member of the Fireman’s Benevolent Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman with a great respect to nature. He will also be missed by his loyal Jack Russell, Oliver. Gus loved the city of Hoboken and his brotherhood and camaraderies with its people and fellow firefighters and military.
Services arranged by the Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, Hoboken.
