New exhibit ‘Two Visionary Guys’ opens Aug. 25 in Hoboken

HOBOKEN–Hob’art Gallery will host an opening reception on Aug. 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for their new exhibit “Two Visionary Guys.” The exhibit features the works of artists Don Sichler and Rich Roberts.

Don Sichler is an artist who uses a camera and computer as tools. As he puts it, he doesn’t create art, rather he discovers it. “My camera records what I find, and the computer is used to develop and expose it,” he says. He records with his camera what most people look at but do not see.

Rich Roberts discovered kiln-formed glass late in life. Fused glass is very different from traditional stained glass. Pieces are fired in an electric kiln several times up to 1,500 degrees. Each heating- cooling cycle takes about 18 hours. The colored glass and small pieces are completely melted or fused into each other.

During the opening reception and the closing party, which will be held on Sept. 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. the artists will talk about their artwork and answer questions from visitors.
