JERSEY CITY — Jayden Fondeur, age 17, of Jersey City, was fatally shot on Old Bergen Road on Sept. 18.
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said at approximately 6:25 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of gunshots in the area of Old Bergen Road and Pamrapo Avenue in Jersey City. Upon arrival, Jersey City Police Officers found Fondeur in front of 23 Old Bergen Road with gunshot wounds to his head/neck. He was in an apparent lifeless condition, according to a release from the prosecutor.
Fondeur was transported by Emergency Medical Services to the Jersey City Medical Center. Fondeur was pronounced dead at approximately 6:55 p.m. According to the prosecutor, the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the cause of death to be gunshot wound of the neck and the Manner of death to be homicide.
The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
