BAYONNE — Former Bayonne Police Chief and public safety director, Jim Sisk, died on Tuesday night, September 18, at the age of 79. He was sworn into the BPD in 1964 and served as chief for 14 years, from 1982 to 1996.
“Throughout my formative years on the Bayonne Police Department, Chief Sisk earned my utmost respect and admiration, but more than that, I called him a friend,” said Bayonne Mayor James Davis. “Our city is a better place because of Chief Sisk, and our city is a lesser place without him.”
Sisk, whose family has strong ties to law enforcement and firefighting, received many honors and commendations during his time on the force.
“He was a giant among men,” Mayor Davis said.
