Secaucus High School offering PSAT test in October

On Wednesday, Oct. 10, Secaucus High School will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). This test measures the verbal, math, and writing skills that students have developed over the course of their education.
For grade 11, the PSAT/NMSQT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship programs. It is also beneficial for freshmen and sophomores to take this test to get a head start on improving academic skills needed for college. In addition, it is a valuable tool to prepare children for the SAT.
The Secaucus Board of Education will be paying for all grade 10 and grade 11 students to take the PSAT this year. Although it is not required for students in grade 9 to take this test, the district encourages those students to take the exam, but in that case the cost is $20. These spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis. To sign up, parents or guardians must fill out a form at https://tinyurl.com/SecPSATlink, and have their children hand it in at the high school guidance office, by no later than Sept. 28.
