ORDER IN THE COURT — 7th grade students in Dr. Walter F. Robinson Community School performed a mock court trial. As the students are reading the middle school classic The Outsiders, the class put the character Johnny on trial to determine whether his actions in self defense were justified. The students were broken down into judges, jurors, defense attorneys, and prosecutors. The students first conducted research to find the responsibilities of their role in the court room. The defense and prosecution used evidence from the novel and actual laws that they researched to construct arguments for their sides. The jurors and judges continued their research of the judicial process and sentencing for the crimes in question.
