First annual Classic Car and Motorcycle Show benefits Secaucus Library

The Friends of the Secaucus Public Library hosted their first Classic Car and Motorcycle Show at the town Recreation Center on Sept. 22. It featured over 60 vintage cars, motorcycles, and trucks, as well as raffles, a petting zoo, pony rides, bounce houses, mini-golf, an array of food vendors, and a DJ.

“We are really pleased with the support we’ve received from the community as we started this new fundraising event,” said Friends of the Library President Karyn Lusskin. “While we are still finalizing our figures, the car show was certainly a success from a fundraising standpoint, with several thousand dollars raised to benefit cultural and educational programs at the library.”

The proceeds will allow the Friend of the Library to host concerts, lectures, and special events such as last winter’s Lunar New Year Tea Tasting Celebration and its ongoing Independent Film Discussion Series.

The Friends also have several other upcoming events, including a three-day book sale starting on Oct. 26, a “Journey to Mexico” concert on Nov. 15, and the launch of a new digital historical photo archive in December.
