To the Editor:
Over the last eight years, my family and I have done a Christmas gift drive. In our beginning years, we started with 75 gifts and have grown to a record breaking 403 gifts in our most recent year. We have donated to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital and St. Peter’s Hospital to ensure sick children still had Christmas. We have even gotten numerous gifts collected and donated from Bayonne’s very own Captain Bayonne. Over the last three years, we have had the extreme pleasure of working with and volunteering with the Bayonne Recreational Special Needs children. They have brought such smiles and joy to us. With that being said, last year we contacted their director and donated our gifts to them. We teamed up and gave them a fabulous holiday party.
Please help us continue our tradition. We are collecting for both boys and girls, from 3 years old to 21 years old, as well as a few with restrictions. To donate a gift or gift card, please contact myself, Jennifer Cotto-Castellano at (551) 233-3613. We will make arrangements to pick up or drop off. All gifts need to be collected by December 8. They can be wrapped but are not required to be. If wrapping, please tag with gender and age. Captain Bayonne will also be collecting again with us this year at several locations and dates, from now to the event. To see his collection details, please refer to his Facebook page “Captain Bayonne.” Thank you for your continued support. We are looking forward to making year nine another record breaker. Believe me, every smile is worth every second of work. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
