Dear Editor:
I don’t mean to sound like I’m shouting “get off my lawn” at age 40, but I’m surprised there are not more accidents, injuries and deaths due to poor driving in Hoboken. Some people stop at every corner even when they don’t have stop signs, others plow through stop signs when they do, some drive 5 mph looking for parking and others drive 40 mph when they aren’t. Pedestrians are no better as many jump in front of your car expecting you to stop. Yes, they have right of way, but they don’t have the right to jump directly into traffic. Look both ways has turned into look down at your phone. Through all of this, I don’t ever see a police officer handing out tickets. No consequences at all for these actions. Police officers and the town are doing an excellent job keeping the neighborhood safer in terms of crime, and directing traffic during rush hour at busy intersections and I salute them for it, but does someone need to get seriously harmed before anything changes?
