Thanks for making Christmas a merry one

To the Editor:
For 9 years I have done a Christmas fundraiser with my family, to teach my children the meaning of Christmas. Giving is more important than receiving. My goal this year was to beat last year’s total of 403 gifts. Well this year by far was the best toy drive yet. We had over 500 gifts! I would like to take a minute to thank everyone that helped make it happen, most importantly Pete Amadeo and the Division of Recreation for allowing us to be part of this special day. Thanks to my family who helped wrap, separate, bag and make several trips to the party. Thanks to Captain Bayonne, who stood in the cold for several days to collect as well as distribute collection boxes in town and pick up and deliver them to me. Thanks to Giovannis Sulmeria, who collected a huge percentage of toys for weeks. Both took the time that day to attend the party. Thanks to my friends that helped the entire day, from making trips to serving food, wrapping, separating, delivering, etc. Thanks to Kim Hennigar, Brianna and friend; Cristine and Jared Shannon, Lee-Ann Pinho and Shuhan Pinho  and friends, of Titan Tactical; Cody Lindquist, and Jeffery Booker, Sr.
We gave each Bayonne recreation Special Needs child 2 gifts and a stuffed animal, a contractor bag of gifts to a single mom of 4 in desperate need, a box to a local church for those in need and 2 car loads to the shelter in Jersey City with 24 kids. I can’t thank you all enough for making it all happen. I’m blessed to have you all as friends. Thanks to our community for making it all possible for each and every gift. Looking forward to next year’s goal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
