A funeral mass took place Jan. 7 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Jersey City, for Kevin Crimmins, 74, of Jersey City. He passed away at Hackensack University Hospital while surrounded by his family on Jan. 4. A Jersey City native, Kevin was a graduate of Saint Peters College. He served in the United States Army and after a few years as a lineman with NJ Bell he followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Jersey City Police Department, rising to the rank of detective before retiring in 1993. Kevin was a member and past president of the Jersey City FOP Lodge 4 and a member and past president of the NJ Special Investigators Association. An avid golfer, Kevin was also a member of the Essex County Country Club. Kevin was predeceased by his parents, Agnes and Timothy Crimmins (Lt. JCPD); sister Jane Sherry; brother John Crimmins and father-in-law Robert Harrigan. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Marge Crimmins; sister, Sr. Arleen Crimmins; sons, Kevin and his wife, Karin, and Brian Crimmins; grandchildren Hailey and Aiden; mother-in-law Nancy Harrigan; sisters-in-law Kathy Cheney and her husband John and Patricia Harrigan and nephews Tyler Barrett and John Cheney.
