Pitfalls of dealing with PSEG

Dear Editor:

I would like my fellow citizens to be aware of the pitfalls of dealing with PSE&G worry free protection plans. I pay $2.99 per month for a worry free contract to repair and maintain my hot water heater. When it leaked, I called PSE&G. They could not repair it. I allowed them to replace it. This was not covered by the worry free protection plan. They charged me $4,992 to obtain and install a Weil- McClain Aqua Plus 55 gallon hot water heater, which I later found retails for approximately $1,500. I have complained to PSE&G . Their response was that I signed the invoice. What was I to do ? Their plumber did not tell me the full price until they had already installed it. I have also written a complaint to the Division of Consumer Affairs and to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities . I live in Hoboken. I would urge my fellow citizens to beware of these business practices of PSE&G. I should have used my own plumber to replace the hot water heater.
