BRETT, MICHAEL L.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated April 3 at St. Aloysius Church for Michael L. Brett, 90. He passed away peacefully on March 29. He was at home surrounded by his family. Michael was a lifelong resident of Jersey City and a veteran of the Korean War. He joined the Jersey City Fire Department in 1958 and served faithfully for the next 36 years. Mike was well known throughout the department for his friendship and his skills in the kitchen. Michael worshipped at St. Aloysius Church for over 65 years and lived a life devoted to service to others. He will be remembered by all who knew him as the most and faithful husband, father, grandfather and friend. “Micky” was predeceased by Lorraine, his devoted wife of 60 years, his sisters Mary, Helen, Mildred and Kay and his brothers Marty, Jimmy and Johnnie. Now at long last, they are joyously reunited. Surviving are his children Jayne Fogari and her husband Robert Fogari, Michael Brett and his wife Alexis, James Brett and his wife Robin, John Brett, and Patrick Brett and his wife Pamela. “Pop” will always be by his twelve grandchildren Claudia Fogari, Laura Fogari, Robert Fogari Jr, Michael Fogari, James Brett, Caroline Brett, Patrick Brett, Ava Brett, Ryan Brett, Rory Brett, Jessica Brett and Jack Brett. Pop shared an inspirational love with his grandchildren and they brought great joy and purpose to his life. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
