Every day, Earth Day

Dear Editor:

Since plastic bags have been banned in Hoboken, we have learned a new habit, to carry our own when shopping. We could also learn to make every day Earth Day by not throwing in the trash banana peels, apple cores, coffee grounds, eggshells, half-eaten hamburgers and French fries, etc., but putting all that comes from the Earth, back to the Earth, in a special container to be picked up and composted. New York City has such a program, (as well as some European countries), why can’t we? Such compost is called black gold, and it’s valuable, sought after by farmers and landscapers.
