On June 8, visit St. Vincent de Paul Church, 979 Avenue C, to celebrate its 125th anniversary. A program by church historians Priscilla Ege and Peter Keenen O’Brien will begin at 12 p.m. It will include a visual presentation highlighting the history of the church, its architecture and its world-famous windows by renowned Irish stained glass artist, Harry Clarke. A guided/self-guided tour of the interior and exterior of the church will follow.
The church has the distinction of being on the State and National Registers of Historic Places, as well as being recognized by the Bayonne Historic Preservation Commission as a local landmark.
The history and architecture of the church has been preserved by parishioners past and present and a debt of gratitude is owed to them.
