A funeral mass was offered May 7 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for Marilyn Tomkins, 98. She passed away peacefully on May 1. Marilyn was born in Jersey City and remained a lifelong resident. She served in the United States Navy as a secretary where she was stationed in Washington, DC, New York City and Long Island and she volunteered as a nurse’s aide at the Jersey City Medical Center during the war. A communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, she was a member of the Rosary Society and the Fifty Plus Group. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Rosanna Grant; her husband, William H. Tomkins and her brother Stephen and his wife Esther. She is survived by her son James Tomkins, nieces Diane Miller and her husband Bill and Sandra Larsen and her husband Daniel; great nephews Erik Larsen and John Miller; great nieces Corrie Kemple, Jessica Tortora and Amy Hoffmeier and great great nieces and nephews Kyla, Evan, Riley, Landon, Karen and Andrew.
