CarePoint Health’s Bayonne Medical Center has been recognized as a Top Safety Hospital and awarded an “A” grade for Safety for the 4th consecutive time by national healthcare nonprofit, the Leapfrog Group in their Spring 2019 Hospital Safety Grade Rankings. The announcement comes on the heels of Bayonne Medical Center being named a Top Teaching Hospital by the Leapfrog Group last fall.
Top grades represent lives saved, according to an analysis of Leapfrog’s 28 safety measures by Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality at Johns Hopkins Medicine. Patients admitted at D and F hospitals face almost twice the risk of death than patients in “A” hospitals. Hospital grades can be viewed at https://www.hospitalsafetygrade.org/your-hospitals-safety-grade.
Administered on behalf of employers and other purchasers, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the nation’s only rating system focused entirely on errors, accidents, injuries and infections. Methodology underlying the Safety Grade is reviewed by a National Expert Panel and receives guidance from the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality.
