On July 8, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that Jonathan Ortiz-Guananga, a 26-year-old Union City resident, has been arrested and charged in connection with a head-on collision on Paterson Plank Road in Jersey City which caused the death of Adriana Riano, a 32-year-old North Bergen resident.
On June 27, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Ortiz-Guananga was arrested without incident by members of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and charged with death by auto, assault by auto, speeding, driving while intoxicated, failure to maintain a traffic lane, and reckless driving.
Ortiz-Guananga is scheduled to make his first appearance on these charges in Central Judicial Processing Court in the Hudson County Administration Building in Jersey City at 1 p.m. on July 24.
These charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
